Job Description :
Peterson CAT has an immediate opening for a Shop Technician in Redmond, Oregon. Reporting to Shop Service Supervisor, performs service activities primarily in the main service shop for customer and/or sales and rental fleet equipment.
Responsibilities include the following:
Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions
Pre-delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products Repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, and all related components, electrical and air systems
Write service reports that accurately document activities
Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner
Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and to preserve and document component failure information for accurate failure analysis.
Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety rules and regulations.
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to promote a positive working relationship.
Work overtime as needed to meet customer needs.
Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements :

Associates degree in Diesel Technology and five (5) years previous heavy equipment experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (experience and education must meet minimum requirements to be considered).
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions.
Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, other personnel, and customers.
Ability to become lift truck operator certified.
Demonstrated ability to safely operate overhead cranes, power tools, and other shop equipment.
Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
Posses valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
Possess basic computer knowledge and ability to use required service software.
Physical requirements include ability to lift 50 pounds, standing, walking, and bending.
Possess excellent attendance and punctuality, attention to detail,and safe working habits.
Complete time cards and service reports accurately and in a timely manner.
